Commissions

Step 1
Outreach
Kick off the commission process by sending us a message through our Contact Page. We'll have a conversation about what you're looking for, pricing, and timelines.

STEP 2
Finding the piece
The client describes the product type and dimensions of their future piece, as well as any additional details such as the room it will occupy, color preferences, etc. You will be quoted a full price and we will discuss shipping costs and timeline. We will work to find a piece within your specifications to be upcycled!

STEP 3
Design Stage
Once we have received a non-refundable 50% deposit on the piece, the design stage begins! We will create and share 3 different designs according to your specs. You will have a opportunity to do one round of feedback and changes and help finalize the design.

Step 4
Creation
With a finalized design, we'll get to work hand-refinishing your piece. Depending on the project, we will make repairs, sand, stain, paint, and complete the piece with a protective finish.

Step 5
Final delivery
When the piece is done, it's time to get it into your space! Based on shipping conversations earlier in the process, we'll send the finished piece off to you and you'll get a shipping and second half invoice. Finally, your piece starts its second life!
Price Expectations
Commissioning a piece of art is an exciting decision, and we want to exercise transparency every step of the way! Here are some things you should think about when budgeting for a One One Thousand commission:
- Furniture commissions start at $350 (before shipping), and increase based on the size and complexity of the piece. All of One One Thousand's pieces are one of a kind, upcycled, and hand-refinished.
- Shipping: We will always find you the cheapest possible shipping option, but shipping furniture can get pricey! Please factor this into your budget. If you're looking for a smaller piece, you can get a sense of shipping quotes from FedEx or UPS. For a larger piece, check out the UShip cost estimator.
